Dtelnet: A Free Telnet Client for Windows 16/32/64 Emulates many terminal types 'linux,xterm,rxvt,konsole,vt100,vt320,vt420' (xterm-256color is the preferred), talks protocols 'telnet' and 'login'. Many customization options available. In transparent mode, the foreign host full-screen capabilities are functional on your local terminal. Transparent mode is the default. DEBUG Causes TELNET client-trace data, including the data transferred to and received from the TELNET server, to be written to a data set defined by the DEBUGFIL DD statement in the user TSO LOGON procedure, or as specified by issuing the TSO ALLOC command.

Telnet is a client-server protocol based on character-oriented data exchange over TCP connections. Telnet enables remote control of computers via text-based inputs and outputs. For this reason, a client-server connection is established as a default via the TCP protocol and port 23, where the remote-controlled device acts as a server and waits. Release versions of PuTTY are versions we think are reasonably likelyto work well. However, they are often not the most up-to-dateversion of the code available. If you have a problem with thisrelease, then it might be worth trying outthe development snapshots,to see if the problem has already been fixed in those versions.
