Activate Microsoft Outlook

To enable or disable the e-mail message Preview pane, also known as the Reading pane, in the Microsoft Outlook software program and the Outlook.com online e-mail service, follow the steps below.

I go through the post carefully, Just like Palcouk said, Microsoft doesn't make or support Outlook Express anymore, as you can see the link: Outlook Express: Move your email to Outlook.com - Office Support (microsoft.com). If you have Microsoft 365 for Business Subscription, I would like to make sure you activate Outlook app with your Account. Microsoft Office 2010 product key or activation keys can be used to activate your trial or limited edition of Office 2010 suite. After activating your version of Microsoft office you can use full features of any of office 2010 applications including Microsoft Word 2010, Excel 2010, Outlook 2010 and PowerPoint 2010.

Note

This page only refers to the 'Preview pane' or 'Reading pane' feature in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook.com mail, not the 'Outlook Mail (Preview)' version of Outlook.com. If you have Outlook Mail (Preview), according to Microsoft, there is no way to revert to the previous version of Outlook.com. Please contact Microsoft support for more details and help.

  • To open Word, open Finder, select the Applications folder, and then double-click Microsoft Word in the 'Microsoft Office' section. Click Get Started on the 'What's New' screen. If you don't see this screen, just skip this step. Click Sign In on the 'Sign In to Activate' screen.
  • Microsoft Windows 10 must be activated before you can redeem and activate Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, or 365. To check the activation status in Windows 10, select the Start button. Select Settings icon. Select Update & Security, and then select Activation. This page indicates whether Windows is activated.

Microsoft Outlook

The steps below are for the Microsoft Outlook software program that is installed on a computer. Keep in mind, these steps may vary slightly depending on the version of Outlook you are using.

Enable Preview pane

  1. Open the Microsoft Outlook program.
  2. Click the View menu or tab at the top of the program window.
  3. Click the Reading pane or Preview pane option.
  4. Select the Right or Bottom option, depending on where you want the Preview pane displayed.

Above is an example image of what the Microsoft Outlook Preview pane looks like when enabled. The Preview pane in this example is displayed under the e-mail listing and it displays the e-mail message currently selected.

Activate

Disable Preview pane

  1. Open the Microsoft Outlook program.
  2. Click the View menu or tab at the top of the program window.
  3. Click the Reading pane or Preview pane option.
  4. Select the Off option.

Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail)

The steps below are for the Outlook.com (previously known as Hotmail) online e-mail service, available through an Internet browser.

Enable Reading pane

  1. Log in to your Outlook.com e-mail account.
  2. In the menu bar, click the gear icon to the left of your name, as displayed in the picture below.
  3. Select the Options option.
  4. Under the Reading email section, click the Reading pane option.
  5. Select the Right or Bottom option, depending on where you want the Reading pane, and click the Save button.

Disable Reading pane

  1. Log in to your Outlook.com e-mail account.
  2. In the menu bar, click the gear icon to the left of your name, as displayed in the picture above.
  3. Select the Options option.
  4. Under the Reading email section, click the Reading pane option.
  5. Select the Off option and click the Save button.

After you open the Insights add-in, you'll see a number of cards in the right (Insights) pane.

  2. Track email and document open rates: Track readership of emails that you've sent sent by viewing the percentage open rate, the percentage attachment click rate, and so on.
  3. View outstanding tasks: Make sure nothing falls through the cracks by seeing reminders of tasks that you've agreed to do.
  4. Follow up on your requests: Receive reminders to follow up on commitments made by your colleagues or on requests that you have made.
  5. Book time to focus: Protect your calendar by reserving focus time before meetings take over.
  6. Catch up on email: Cut through the clutter with a summary of unread email from your more important contacts.
  7. Catch up on documents: See a list of shared OneDrive and SharePoint documents that you need to catch up on.
  8. Add important people: Manage your list of important contacts. You'll see reminders when you have tasks to complete for these people or unread emails from them.
  9. Set lunch hours: Use this card to protect your lunch hours and personalize your insights.
  10. Plan your time away: Use this card to plan your time away from work.
  11. Catch up with your team: Stay on top of your team's needs with insights for 1:1 meetings, outstanding tasks, and so on.

  13. Check quiet hours impact: Help your team achieve work-life balance by reviewing the impact of sending email outside of working hours.

How To Activate Microsoft Outlook 2016 For Free

If you're using Outlook on the Web, you can pin the add-in for easier access.

To pin the add-in to the quick access pane

  1. In Outlook on the web, select the Settings (gear) icon.

  2. In Settings, select View all Outlook Settings.

  3. Confirm Mail is selected in the left pane, and in the center pane, select Customize actions. Netapp oncommand system manager 3.0.

  4. In the right pane, in the Message surface area, select Insights.

  5. In the right pane, in the Toolbar area, select Insights.

  6. Save your new settings.

Opt out of the Insights Outlook add-in

To opt out

Activate
  1. Open your dashboard.

  2. Select the Settings (gear) icon at top right.

  3. Under MyAnalytics, select Settings.

  4. For Insights Outlook add-in, set the control to Off.

  5. Select Save to save your changes.

Note

It might take up to 24 hours for your saved changes to take effect.

To remove the Insights icon

If you opt out of the Insights Outlook add-in, you might also want to remove its icon from the Outlook ribbon. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. In Outlook, select Get Add-ins.

  2. On the left navigation pane, select My add-ins.

  3. On the Insights card, select the ellipsis (..) and then select Remove.

If I am opted out, can I opt back in?

Yes; if you opt yourself out or if an admin opts you out, you can opt back in any time to regain access to the Insights Outlook add-in.

To opt in

  1. Open your dashboard.

  2. Select the Settings (gear) icon at top right.

  3. Under MyAnalytics, select Settings.

  4. For Insights Outlook add-in, set the control to On.

  5. Select Save to save your changes.
